Centrally located in Oslo, very close to the tourist attractions, the shopping area and the train station, the Bastion Hotel is a warm, welcoming place. The services offered are of a high standard, and especially the people who work there: the reception team, the kitchen-restaurant team and the cleaning staff. Everyone, absolutely everyone, is always ready to help you, to offer you the best and to make you feel at home. Excellent breakfast, wonderful dinner, Sika - a real joy. Hot, creamy, excellent coffee and tea are always available. The ladies in the kitchen and restaurant, in addition to ensuring everything in an impeccable manner, are constantly smiling, tidy, clean, and are there for you. I received a packed breakfast on the last day, because I left very early, a beautifully presented package. Not only will I be staying here when I arrive in Oslo, but I would like to work in this hotel. Where can I send you a CV? Thank you Bastion Hotel! Central location close to train stain and cruise dock. Short walk from station with our luggage. Easy check in, polite and helpful staff. Breakfast, dinner and afternoon cake was included in room cost. Drinks machines allowed you to access hot drinks whenever you wanted. Plenty of seating in the lounge area to relax. Easy check out and luggage storage.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Home Bastion. It was a welcome change to be a guest in a comfortable, but at the same time, non-generic hotel. As some reviews have mentioned, our room was not air-conditioned but it did contain a fan, which was adequate. And yes, the shower was minuscule, but the water pressure was fantastic. Best of all were the dinners and breakfasts provided as part of the cost. What a gift to not have to make dinner reservations and more importantly, not have to pay expensive Oslo dining prices. We stayed for only two nights, but the dinner offerings were varied and more than adequate. The breakfast offered a variety of excellent hot and cold options. Coffee and tea were always available and there was also a “sweet” provided in the afternoons. Also, there are public spaces available which allow for relaxing and working outside of one’s room. The staff was friendly and helpful. As point of reference, we are seniors in our 70’s, one of whom has mobility challenges, and we were very comfortable with our stay. We would definitely return to Hotel Home Bastion when next visiting Oslo.

The hotel was located close to the Oslo Central Station and the opera House, making it a very convenient commute to anywhere in the city. The room is of a reasonable size for two and the mattress, though thin, was surprisingly comfortable to sleep on. There was plenty of storage spaces. What I like most were the provision of breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner every day. The dinner menu even changes every evening. The food was simple but scrumptious.

The hotel is an excellent choice, especially considering its central location, inclusive meals, and overall value for money. We arrived in Oslo by ship from Copenhagen, and the hotel is conveniently located just a 10-minute walk from the cruise terminal. Its proximity to the city center and the main railway station (about a 7–10-minute walk) meant we didn’t need to use public transportation at all during our stay. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We were even able to check in well before the official check-in time, which was much appreciated. The hotel offers a secure, locked luggage room free of charge, which was very convenient. There's also a complimentary sauna available to guests—I made use of it after a long day of walking around the city, and it was a truly relaxing experience. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and well-appointed. The bathroom was stocked with high-quality Rituals toiletries, including shower gel, conditioner, and body lotion—an elegant touch that added to our comfort. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the inclusion of all meals—breakfast, fika (afternoon snack), and dinner—which represented excellent value, particularly since we booked about five months in advance at a very reasonable rate. Breakfast featured hot items such as oat porridge and scrambled eggs, along with a typical continental selection. Dinner included a soup starter, a hot main dish that varied daily, and a fresh salad bar. The meals were well-prepared and satisfying, though families traveling with children should note that the food may not always suit younger or pickier palates. Another thoughtful detail was the availability of complimentary tea and coffee in the reception area—especially welcome given Oslo’s high prices.
